The Welsh Government has released a written statement on the commission rate from the sale of residential park homes. The statement outlines the Welsh government’s commitment to reconsider its decision not to change the commission rate for the sale of a residential park home.
In March 2019 the Welsh Government was working to engage the park homes sector to undertake research and gather views on the current commission rate. To support this work, Welsh government officials developed a draft survey for site owners and a draft public consultation to gather further evidence on the matter.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, this important work has been delayed. The WG officials working on the survey and consultation had to be relocated to support people facing an immediate housing crisis during the national pandemic.
Julie James MS, Minister for Housing Communities and Local Government said:
“Whilst I recognise the importance of the commission rate and the impact this has had on owners of park homes, I have asked officials to temporarily postpone further evidence gathering on this matter, enabling them to continue to focus on the immediate challenges faced as a consequence of Covid-19. This decision will be reviewed following the Senedd elections.”
