Residents’ associations for park home owners
About park home residents’ associations
A residents’ association is a group of park home residents who work together to represent residents’ interests on a site.
It can help residents:
- raise concerns collectively
- discuss site issues and lobby for change
- improve communication with the site owner
- keep informed – especially about their rights as park home owners
- increase the sense of belonging to a community
It can be an informal group or, if eligible, it can become a formal association with legal rights (known as a qualifying residents’ association).
Qualifying residents' associations
The site owner does not have to address issues raised by an informal group but a qualifying residents’ association has legal rights to be consulted about how the site is run and managed, and any planned improvements to the site. This means a qualifying association can respond more effectively on behalf of residents.
However, to get qualifying status the association must:
- meet certain eligibility criteria
- follow a formal application process in England and Wales
- maintain their status
